Serene Lake, CA
Serene Lake, CA served as a multi-year test bed close to the SF Bay Area, where Ice911 is based. We continued to use sheets, as they were the primary materials available at that time, and also began to experiment with bead-like materials placed over the ice, which proved enormously effective and wind proof. Sheets were anchored and shaped with PVC piping. Granular materials carried with them the challenges of containment, and have been contained in many ways, including mesh laundry bags. We saw feet of snow preserved by our materials, and continued to refine our data collection, data logging, and data transmission for remote monitoring.
