Founded by inventor, Stanford consulting professor, and MIT & UC Berkeley alumnus Dr. Leslie Field, Ice911 is pioneering the drive to act responsibly and act now, before it's too late.
Leslie Field, Ph.d.
FOUNDER & CEO
Leslie Field, Ph.D., has been working to save polar ice since 2006. An inventor with 54 US patents who has worked at HP Labs, Agilent Labs and Chevron Research, Leslie earned her B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from MIT and her MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkeley, with a minor in materials science. She now runs Ice911 Research and lectures at Stanford University.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Alex Sholtz does field research, testing, deployment, and instrumentation for Ice911. He joined the team in 2015 after graduating magna cum laude with a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan. Alex enjoys being outside and the opportunity to work on something meaningful.
STRATEGY & ENGINEERING
Roman Decca bridges the gap between engineering and execution for Ice911. He helps with all critical aspects to Ice911’s mission from translating testing data, deployment engineering and materials testing, to growth strategy. His educational background spans Energy Engineering and Climate Science at Stanford University and Business Administration at U.C. Berkeley.
Satish Chetty specializes in polar instrumentation and open source solutions, and founded the annual Polar Technology Conference in 2005. He has an M.S. in Information Systems and a B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from American University and is director of technology for PERI Software Solutions.
kalyan katuri, ph.d.
Kalyan Katuri, Ph.D., has been a part of Ice911 analytics team since 2016. He is also an engineering consultant at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs. Kalyan has an M.S. in Mechatronic Systems and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University, with a minor in Electrical Engineering. He is passionate about providing data driven solutions to impactful problems. He also very much cares about redwood trees and squirrels.
Liz aids in donor communications and engagement for Ice911. She holds an undergraduate degree in International Studies from Colby College and a Graduate Certificate in Fundraising Management for Non-Profits from Boston University. When not working, you can find her hiking and traveling the world with her husband.
